KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is a process where banks verify the identity and address of their clients. This process helps prevent banks from being used for illegal activities. Anti-Money Laundering or AML refers to the laws and rules used to stop criminals from making illegal money look legal. In India, these rules are very strict. The main law is the Prevention of Money Laundering Act or PMLA. It was passed in 2002.
